preparing for your treatment

Sun Exposure

We can not treat you if you’ve had large amounts of sun exposure prior to your appointment, or sun-tanning vitamin A injections in the last 6 months leading up to your appointment.

Pregnancy

For your own safety if you are pregnant or breastfeeding we cannot offer treatment. However we would be more than happy to treat you at another time when we can do so safely.

Health and Medication

If you are prone to keloid scarring or on medication such as Roaccutane we wont be able to offer you treatment. If you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol we will not be able to offer you treatment.

Clothing

Please come to your appointment with loose non-restrictive clothing and shoes around the tattoo area you wish you have treated. Ensure the area is cleanly shaven and any residual spray tan has been scrubbed and removed from your skin.

Anaesthetics

If you’re choosing to use additional numbing cream during your laser session, please ensure you apply this prior to your appointment, following all instructions carefully. You may arrive with numbing cream on, but it will be removed prior to your laser treatment commencing.

Sleep, Shower, Snack!

Before your laser treatment session try get a good night’s sleep, so you feel rejuvenated which will help put your mind at ease. It is recommended that you eat a healthy meal a few hours before your treatment so that your blood sugar is regulated. Hygiene is extremely important in our industry so we ask that you have a shower before your treatment.

After your procedure

Aftercare is an important part of the laser tattoo removal process. It is your responsibility to uphold after you receive your treatment.

Exercise

Avoid exercising or any activity that avoids perspiring! The concern is the tattoo may become more swollen and irritated while healing is critical. Keeping the area clean and dry and avoiding and contact with dirty surfaces (like gym equipment) will help minimise the risk of infection.

Showers

Avoid hot steamy showers, soaking in a bath, using a sauna or direct water penetration and any harsh soaps or cleansers on the treated area.

You want to avoid excessive heat to the skin.

Sun Exposure

Do not expose the treated area to the sun. If you must be in the sun for work or any other reason, please make sure to use a good sunscreen. For extra protection from the sun, use sunscreen and keep the area covered up with clothing.

Treatments

Don't forget to moisturise! Keep the area clean and moist by using Aussie inked blank canvas laser tattoo removal as suggested by your laser technician. Return to normal skin care once the treated area is healed. Avoid over the counter anti-bacteral ointments or creams as these may cause further issues. Please only use your cream unless suggested by your technician performing the treatment.

Blisters

Blistering is normal! Do not pop or pick blisters, keep it covered to avoid it being broken. Blisters may take 1-2 weeks to resolve. You may use a non stick bandage to protect the blister. If the blister is painful, please call the studio to have it drained. The treatment site may exhibit different tissue reactions after each treatment. The following signs and symptoms are normal after laser treatments.
- The treatment site appears unchanged or appears brighter
- The area will appear white, pink or red
- The treatment site may have pinpoint bleeding, blistering, red yellow or clear discharge and swelling.

Don't Pick It!

Do not pick or remove scabs or crusts that develop during the healing process. This is a leading cause of infection and can lead to scarring. Healing can take anywhere from 5-7 days, procedure dependant, Infections are rare, however if aftercare is not followed they can occur.
